Wall-mounted ski holder for displaying skis
This ski holder is designed for wall mounting, making it easy to display your skis in a clean and practical way. The holder is made so the skis hang slightly away from the wall. This provides the necessary clearance for the ski brakes on the bindings, allowing the skis to hang properly without pressing against the wall.
The slot where the skis rest is designed as a negative parts. This gives you the option to scale and adjust the slot yourself, so it can better fit your specific skis and their thickness. The slot is 14mm by default.
The holder is suitable for display, storage, and decorative use in a home, workshop, ski room, or shop.
Important printing note
This model should be printed in PETG or a stronger filament to ensure sufficient strength and durability.
PLA is not recommended, as it is not strong enough for this type of use over time.
Benefits
- Clean wall-mounted display solution for skis
- Keeps the skis away from the wall to make room for binding ski brakes
- Slot is made with negative parts, allowing scaling for different ski sizes
- Suitable for printing in PETG, ABS, ASA, or stronger materials
Optional LED backlighting
The ski holder can also be used as part of a more decorative display by adding an LED strip to the back of the skis. Since the skis are mounted with space between the skis and the wall, it creates a great opportunity for indirect lighting. The LED strip can cast light onto the wall behind the skis, giving the display a clean and modern floating effect.
This makes the holder ideal not only for storage and display, but also as a stylish interior feature in a home, ski room, showroom, or cabin.
A simple solution is to use an old pair of skis that are no longer meant to be used on snow. This makes them perfect for display only.
To attach an LED strip, first clean the back of the ski well so wax, dirt, and grease are removed. LED strips do not stick well to wax, so the surface should be as clean as possible.
For better hold, place a strip of strong double-sided tape or 3M VHB tape on the ski first, then attach the LED strip on top of that. This usually works much better than the adhesive on the LED strip alone.
For the cleanest result, hide the cable along the edge of the ski or near the binding.
I do not recommend mounting LED strips on skis that you plan to use again. The installation requires adhesives such as strong tape or glue, which can damage the ski surface and make it difficult to remove without leaving marks or residue.
This setup is best suited for old or retired skis used for display purposes only.
