This model is designed to capture the grim, wise, and ancient texture of the original Sorting Hat. But to really bring it to life, I applied a multi-stage finishing process, transforming the plastic print into a stunning metallic-brushed artifact.

🎨 My Finishing Process

The stunning metallic look you see in the photos was achieved through a post-processing workflow. Here is a breakdown of how I transformed a simple 3D print into a piece that looks like ancient metal:

Step 1: The Print

The model was printed using PLA, with no supports at all (Even if your Slicer will tell you). 

I used adaptive Layers to make the final finish cleaner by reducing Layerlines.

Step 2: Wax Paste

I applied a Wax Paste (Rub N Buff) to the Finished Print to give it a brushed metal texture.
I used a Dry Brush Technique to spread the Metal Wax over the hat, working it into the detailed engravings and face.
 

The Result: Instant metallic sheen that picks up all the small details of the 3D model.

Step 3: The Clear Coat

To protect the delicate wax finish and provide a final, durable luster, I sealed the entire piece with a simple clear lacquer from a Spray Can.

This adds a subtle, protective shine and ensures the metallic effect won't rub off.

⚠️ Special Notes

You can also use other Colors if you want to, i just choosed this Dark Metal Theme since i think he looks a little bit Evil😉
