🌳 Procedural Bonsai Tree Generator: Grow Your Own!
Welcome to the Custom Bonsai Tree Generator! This parametric tool allows you to grow unique, 3D-printable bonsai trees using a simple set of sliders.
Why is this a great model to print?
- Infinite Variations: Whether you want a sweeping wind-swept pine, a weeping willow, or a thick, ancient oak, this generator can make it. No two trees need to be the same.
- Support-Free Printing: The geometry is specifically optimized to print beautifully without the nightmare of removing supports from delicate branches.
- Modular Snap-Fit: Every tree generates with a standardized 15mm base peg, allowing you to easily print the trunk in wood filament and snap it right into your pots or dioramas!
⚠️ Disclaimer: Pot Sold Separately! (Well, Downloaded Separately) Please note that this generator is specifically for creating the Trees. To keep things running fast and smoothly, the Bonsai Pot & Procedural Landscape Generator is a separate model on my profile! The two generators are designed to work perfectly together using the DNA Systemdescribed below.
🧬 How to Design Your Tree: The "DNA" System
As you adjust the sliders in the Customizer, you are altering the mathematical "DNA" of the tree. This DNA is represented by 6 specific parameters.
Here is exactly what each parameter controls so you can design your perfect tree:
- 1. Tree Scale: The overall size multiplier of the tree. 1.0 is standard, 0.5 makes a miniature desktop accent, and 2.0 makes a massive centerpiece.
- 2. Cloud Count (Branches): The number of branch tiers (or "foliage clouds") your tree will grow. Lower numbers (3-4) create sparse, modern, or wind-swept trees. Higher numbers (6-8+) create dense, ancient-looking canopies.
- 3. Canopy Spread: Controls the maximum horizontal reach of the lowest branches. Increase this for wider, flatter trees, or decrease it for narrow, columnar trees.
- 4. Branch Reduction: Determines how aggressively the branches shrink as they get closer to the top apex. A high reduction creates a sharp, triangular pine-tree look; a low reduction creates a wide, dome-like canopy.
- 5. Branch Elevation: Controls the upward or downward tilt of the branches. Lower values create drooping, weeping styles, while higher values make the branches reach aggressively up toward the sky.
- 6. Trunk Resolution: Controls the 3D mesh quality. Leave it high (32 to 64) for a perfectly smooth, organic trunk, or drop it extremely low (6 to 8) for a cool, stylized low-poly aesthetic!
🪴 Linking Your Tree to the Custom Pot
If you want to plant your newly generated tree in my Custom Bonsai Pot Generator:
- Design your tree here and write down the 6 numbers you used for the settings (This is your Tree's "DNA").
- Export and print your tree!
- Go to the Pot Generator, paste those exact 6 numbers into the tree DNA slot, and the pot will automatically carve a perfectly sized, custom-sloped socket into the dirt for your tree to snap into!
