"Code 1, 1A, 2B... Zero-Zero-Zero-Destruct-Zero!"
Is your PC prone to accidental shutdowns? Whether it’s a stray elbow or a curious pet "assisting" with your work, this retro-inspired cover adds a layer of security—and a lot of style—to your setup. Inspired by the classic self-destruct mechanisms from Star Trek: TOS, this cover is designed to retrofit over your existing PC power button.
Key Features:
- Pet-Proof Design: The flip-up lid prevents inadvertent button presses from cats or other pets walking across your PC case.
- Universal Retrofit: The internal opening accommodates power buttons between 15mm and 20mm in diameter.
- Flick-to-Lock Mechanism: Features a custom "nub and dent" detent on the hinge. Flick it open, and it stays open with a satisfying mechanical click until you're ready to "engage."
- 100% Print-in-Place (PIP): The articulated hinge is integrated directly into the base. No assembly, screws, or pins required.
- Support-Free Geometry: Designed to be printed in the open position using $45^\circ$ angles. No supports or post-processing needed.
Installation:
- Simply center the base over your existing PC power button.
- Recommended: Use a small piece of double-sided sticky tape (such as 3M VHB) on the flat underside of the base to secure it to your PC case.
Print Profile Specs:
This profile is optimized for heft and structural durability:
- Material: Regular PLA (~20g total).
- Infill: 60% Gyroid (Chosen for superior strength and a solid, weighted feel).
- Walls: 4 Wall Loops (Ensures a robust hinge and high-quality finish).
- Filament Swap: For the best look, trigger a color change (M600) for the top layers of the lid to highlight the embossed "AUTO DESTRUCT" text.
