I've created a simple nesting case for my Pinecil V2 smart soldering iron. I wanted this case to be minimal in size and have a small footprint when in use. To acheive this, I have elected not to use hinges as they keep the lid attached to the case and double the footprint. Instead, I utilize a nesting lid so it can be stored under the body of the case when in use. The lid has thumb and finger cutaways to easily remove and the slip fit is tight enough to where its not going to constantly fall off. I also wanted this case to be primarily printable. Other cases utilize a bearing to hold the iron. This case uses the geometry of the rubber girp on the iron to create an opening and a seat to sit in. Simply rotate the holder up, rest it on the edge of the case and insert the iron. No hot surfaces will come in contact with the plastic. The final features of the case include a compartment to place a sponge or cooper tin and a cut away to let you retrive your iron from its holding place. All in all, I wanted a simple but effective way to store and use my iron without the need to hold tools, flux, parts or other items. I think this case acheives that well.
Note: The iron in the photos is using a ts100 short tip, however this case does accomodate the longer varients as well.
you will also need 1 M2.5x25 socket head bolt for this model. I have refrenced the kit below.
I have referenced all filaments I used below. ( if you dont want multi color I recomend printing entirely with PETG)
Lid is sliced in PLA, Body and holder are sliced with PETG
Thank you, and I hope you enjoy!
