Modular Air-Pruning Seedling System (Individual Cells + Custom Trays)

I loved my original 5x5 design, but I realized that sometimes you just don't need 25 starts at once. Whether you're working with a few expensive specialty seeds or just want to organize your nursery by plant type, this Modular Seedling System gives you total control.

How it Works

Instead of one large block, the seedling cells are now individual units. You print as many as you need and drop them into one of the six custom-sized trays included in this set.

Available Tray Sizes:

• 1-Cell & 2-Cell: Perfect for "rescue" seedlings or single high-value plants.
• 4-Cell & 6-Cell: Great for small herb gardens or kitchen starts.
• 9-Cell & 12-Cell: Ideal for batching your main garden crops.

The Seedling Cells

Each cell maintains the high-performance features of the original design:

• Dimensions: 4x4cm at the top, tapering to 3x3cm at the base.
• Air-Pruning Vents: Slotted sides prevent root spiraling and encourage a dense, healthy root ball.
• Easy-Out Bottom Hole: Use a finger or a pencil to pop the plant out from the bottom—zero transplant shock.

Why Modular?

• Organization: Group different varieties together in separate trays (e.g., your hot peppers in a 4-tray, your tomatoes in a 12-tray).
• Efficiency: If one seedling is ready to up-pot before the others, just pull that specific cell out without disturbing the rest.
• Portability & Printability: Smaller trays are much easier to fit under desktop grow lights or on narrow windowsills. Also the smaller plates now offer the possibility to print in smaller sized printers like the A1 Mini
   

Print Settings

• Materials: PETG is best for longevity and UV resistance but PLA works fine and will last between cycles.
• Nozzle: 0.4mm or 0.6mm works great.
• Trays: The trays are designed with a slight tolerance so the cells slide in and out easily even with standard printer calibrations.
• Support: No supports needed for either the cells or the trays.
