Modelo 3D Cube Light ..."a bridge too far?" por MeedyDoofa no MakerWorld

Descrição

Cube Light

This is a 10 x 10 cm cube that uses the Bridge functionality of 3D printers. The bridge occurs when the nozzle extrudes a line of filament (unsupported) at a steady pace across a gap of around 10-25mm. Some printers can bridge gaps further than others. This cube has a multitude of 2.5mm diameter columns with the bridges intersecting along each level.

This print should work on most 3D printers although some fine adjustments may be required. See below for the print profile settings.

I've designed this to work with the battery operated puck lights from Bambu's Makers Supply kit (links to them are on this page) it's an inexpensive set of 2 led lights which come with a remote control; which has light modes and a timer function.

I've designed a few other models that work with these puck lights:

Telescope Nightlight Lamp - [https://makerworld.com/en/models/1635833](https://makerworld.com/en/models/1635833)

Clock & Lightbox - [https://makerworld.com/en/models/1672826](https://makerworld.com/en/models/1672826)

In addition, the USB powered Led lamp kit can be used too, just snip away some of the bridges and clip-through the cable.

How does it work?

The cube has a recess engineered into its design, simply place it on top of the LED light and turn it on

How can you use it?

  • Use it with the Led light to create an ambient mood lamp
  • Use it without the light, it looks lovely as is. Its very tactile, and quite sensory
  • Its a playful way to hide something, perhaps candy sweets for children?
  • Use it the other-way up and store coins or keys inside
  • Try different colours of filament, translucent would look fab!
  • If you've not tried printing bridges in a model before; this would be a good test for your printer

Print settings

  • 0.28mm layer height will provide the best performance if you want a faster and quality looking print
  • 100% infill with rectilinear pattern
  • Wall Loops = 2
  • Wall Generator = Classic
  • Optional is a single Skirt Loop - with fine models this tends to help reduce splodges on the first layer

It will take a while to print, expect around 7hrs. This is because of the multitude of travel paths and intersections that it needs to calculate. On my P1s it took 6 ½ hrs and it came out beautifully with Bambu Basic PLA filament.

beautiful when lit up

I'm thinking about expanding this model by creating modular stands to hold a light source, and the cubes could be stacked on top, an interconnected tower of light. I could also reduce the sizes to help with the print times. If you'd like to see something like that I can make that happen, just ping me in the comments section.

Thanks for looking!
