🛠️ Ultimate Parametric Washer & Standoff Generator

This is a versatile, fully parametric generator for washers, spacers, and standoffs, designed to provide a perfect fit for any mechanical or hobbyist project. With integrated presets and advanced geometry controls, you can create a custom part in seconds!

 

Why I created this: 

I’ve been there many times: searching for that one specific washer. One day I needed a perfect countersink seat for a wood screw, another time I needed a flanged washer with a custom collar to fit snugly into a 3D-printed enclosure, and sometimes I just needed a large flat spacer that didn't exist in my hardware drawer. 

While you can find most of these models online, it usually involves endless searching and "close-enough" fits. I decided to build this All-in-One Generator to cover 99% of those cases. Instead of hunting for files, you can now generate the exact washer you need in seconds. 

🌟 Key Features:

  • Multiple Washer Types: Choose between Flat, Countersink (tapered), Counterbore (cylindrical), or a Custom expert mode.
  • Smart Presets: Instant dimensions for standard metric screws from M2 to M10 (based on DIN 125 for the Flat type).
  • Dynamic Spacer: Add an optional standoff/spacer below the washer with an "Auto-Match Diameter" toggle.
  • Tapered Outer Walls: Create conical shapes by adjusting the outer face angle.
  • Custom Standoff/Spacer: Add an integrated spacer under the washer with an independent diameter – perfect for "pilot" heads that fit into pre-existing holes. 
  • Intelligent Rounding: Built-in safety logic ensures edge rounding never breaks the geometry.

📖 How to Use the Customizer:

1. Washer Configuration

  • Washer Type: Defines the overall functionality.
    • flat: A standard flat washer.
    • countersink: For tapered screw heads (e.g., wood screws).
    • counterbore: For cylindrical heads (e.g., hex/socket head bolts).
    • custom: Expert mode combining both hole types.
  • Preset Size: When using the flat type, select a bolt size (M2-M10). The script will automatically apply standard diameters and thickness.

2. Main Settings

  • Main Thickness: The height of the primary washer body.
  • D_outer_bottom: The external diameter of the base.
  • d_inner_bottom: The screw hole diameter 

3. Spacer / Standoff Settings

  • Spacer Height: Increase this value to create a standoff or a long sleeve.
  • Spacer Match Washer Diameter: Keep this checked to sync the spacer width with the washer. Uncheck it to set a manual spacer diameter.

4. Hole Geometry

  • These sections become active based on your Washer Type selection. You can fine-tune the countersink angle or the depth/width of the counterbore cup.

💡 Printing Tips:

  • Material: Use PETG, ASA, or ABS for mechanical parts. PLA is great for low-stress spacers.
  • Infill/Perimeters: For structural washers, use at least 40-100% infill or increase the Wall Count to 4-6 for maximum compression strength.
  • Tolerances: If the hole feels too tight due to filament "squish," simply increase the d_inner_bottom by 0.1-0.2mm in the Customizer.

📝 About the Script

This OpenSCAD script was designed for clean geometry and user-friendly interaction. It includes "Safety Floors" to ensure your screw head never cuts completely through the bottom of the part.
