HexFlex10 Scraper System

This is a modular scraper system built for durability and ease of maintenance. It utilizes a 10mm hexagonal shank standard, ensuring that tips are held securely without the risk of rotation during heavy use.

Mechanical Design

• High-Flex Collet: The compression slits extend 3mm into the handle body. This design creates a more effective hinge point, allowing the nut to apply even clamping pressure across the shank.
• Anti-Rotation Hex Lock: Unlike round collets, the internal handle cavity is a matched hex socket. This mechanical interlock prevents the blade from twisting when applying lateral pressure.
• 10mm Modular Standard: Standardizing on a 10mm hex makes the handle compatible with a wide range of custom-designed tips and attachments.

Practical Features

• Fast Blade Replacements: The system is designed for quick manual swaps. A standard blade can be printed in approximately 20 minutes.
• Flat-Print Orientation: All scraper tips are designed to be printed flat on the build plate. This aligns the layer lines with the direction of force, significantly increasing the structural strength of the blade compared to vertical prints.
• Integrated Storage: The handle is hollow with a threaded rear cap, providing a small storage space for printer maintenance items like nozzle needles or spare M3 hardware.

Print Recommendations

To ensure the mechanical integrity of the threads and the collet:

• Material: PETG (recommended for its durability and slight flexibility).
• Walls: 5 loops (essential for the strength of the threaded sections).
• Infill: 25% (Gyroid or Cubic).
• Line width: 120–140% of nozzle (e.g. 0.48–0.56 on a 0.4 nozzle)
• Supports: None. The geometry is designed to be entirely self-supporting.

Assembly Notes

• Seating the Blade: Fully insert the hex shank into the handle before tightening the nut to ensure the anti-rotation lock is engaged.
• Thread Maintenance: If the PETG threads feel tight initially, a small amount of PTFE lubricant or machine oil will ensure smooth operation and prevent the plastic from binding.
