Description

Designed as a "personal tray" for each player to use at their own station during board games. Standard magnetic token trays typically have thick vertical walls to house the magnets, which prevents them from being nested or stacked thinly. This design features flared, dish-like edges, achieving compact nesting while remaining fully magnetic.

Why I Made This

As a board game host, I found it tedious to decide how many trays to give each player for every different game.

• Setup Hassle: Counting out the "correct" number of trays for each person is a chore.
• Unexpected Shortages: New token types often appear mid-game, especially during first-time plays.
• Table Clutter: Handing out extra trays just in case usually leads to a messy desk.

With this design, just hand everyone a "stack of 6" and you're done. They stack so thinly that unused trays can be kept underneath the active ones, so the footprint on the table is always just one tray.

Expansion Patterns

Deploy them based on the number of token types you need:

• 3 - 3: For 2 types of tokens.
• 2 - 2 - 2: For 3 types of tokens.
• 2 - 2 - 1 - 1: For 4 types of tokens. (Keep unused trays stacked at the bottom to maximize your table space!)

Hardware & Assembly

• Neodymium Magnets: 2mm x 3mm x 10mm (Rectangular) — 6 pcs per tray.
• Super Glue: Use to securely fix the magnets in place.
• Important - Magnet Polarity: Please alternate the polarities (N-S-N-S-N-S) when inserting the magnets. This allows the trays to snap into precise alignment when stacked or placed side-by-side. Note: The trays will attract in specific orientations and repel in others; please check for the correct alignment when in use.

Post-Printing Tip

How to remove from the tree: After printing, when removing the entire print (the "tree") from the build plate, flexing it inward slightly allows the trays to detach smoothly without applying excessive force.

【Note / Help Wanted】 I am still new to 3D printing and haven't fully optimized the settings yet. Because of this, some minor surface warping or imperfections from support removal (support scarring) may occur. If you happen to know better print settings or tips to achieve a cleaner finish, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share them in the comments!
