4-Shape Stacking Board – Simple, Educational & Fun
I designed this stacking toy as a slightly more advanced version of a classic shape sorter. It keeps things simple, but adds just enough variety to make it engaging for young kids.
This version includes 4 different shapes:
- Circle
- Square
- Triangle
- Hexagon
Each shape stacks onto its own peg, helping kids practice:
- Shape recognition
- Hand-eye coordination
- Fine motor skills
- Color sorting
- Early problem-solving
One feature I really like about this design is that the core peg is removable. It sits nicely in the base plate but can be taken out if needed, making it easy to print, assemble, and even store.
Easy & Beginner Friendly Print
This is a very straightforward print and great for beginners.
- No AMS required
- No supports needed
- Simple, clean geometry
- Prints reliably
- Parts are printed separately for easy color swaps
You can print each layer in a different color like I did, or keep everything one color for a more minimal look. Since each piece is separate, changing colors is easy without needing multi-material printing.
Designed to Be Practical
The base plate keeps everything stable, and the shapes stack smoothly without being too tight or too loose. It’s sturdy enough for regular play and simple enough to reprint if you ever want different colors or sizes.
It also scales well if you’d like to make a larger version for smaller hands.
Great For
- Toddlers and preschoolers
- Montessori-style learning
- Daycares
- Handmade gifts
- Craft fairs
This is one of those timeless toys that’s satisfying to print and even more satisfying to see kids use.
If you print it, I’d love to see your version. Feel free to leave a review and share a photo of your color combinations.
