Descrição
I've got an irrational hatred of most standee bases. They stick up, so they're hard to store. They're hard to put on and take off, so you just leave them on, and now your standees take up half of the box. So I decided obviously the fix is to design my own.
This is a flat standee base that lets you pop your standees in and out easily. So you can pop them on when it's time to play, and then pop them off and toss into the box for storage. It's free, it's simple, it makes me less mad at the world (sorry world).
Features
- Flat profile instead of the usual T-shape
- Standees pop in and out easily, so you can separate them for easy, space-saving, storage
- …but they have enough grip that they cling to the piece as you move them around, even if you're really excited (note: I make no promises. It works for me. Feel free to share funny stories in the comments)
- It uses a spring, so you know it's cool
- Comfortably fits most standee sizes. Comes in three tightnesses, marked with dots on the bottom so you can easily figure out what size it is
- start with the regular sized one at 2 dots. This should work in most cases
- use the thin one with 1 dot for really thin cardboard pieces, if it feels uncomfortably loose
- use the thick one with 3 dots for really thick cardboard pieces, if it feels uncomfortably tight
- you can see the differences in the three sizes, in the photo with the three black bases
- Print it in any color you like to match your standees. Or use custom colors for each player. Or print in one color and enjoy the chill consistency. Do what makes you happy
- Comes with a little helper tool that you can use to slide through the slot before first use. After that, just slide the standees in from the sides and enjoy
- Print-in-place, no assembly required. (Ignore the warning about floating cantilever, the top cover floats but printers should be able to bridge that gap handily)
A note on materials: I've used PLA to print most of these. Technically PETG has more spring, but given how small and light standees are, it does not seem to make much practical difference. I've also printed a couple examples in PETG and works perfectly fine as well.
I've so far used this to play a full solo game of Deckers without any drama, and I've had friends test it out with their games as well. Would love to see what you play with it!
