This was modeled after the Pearl PL-010 wing nut found on some Pearl-branded cymbal arms and Pearl's flat-base cymbal stands. While this is threaded, you may need to “work” the threads in a little by putting it on and taking it off a couple times. It's pretty tight at first, but if you can screw it all the way on, then off again, it should make it much easier to put on and remove after that.
