I added a slot for the first player token (instead of placing on the cards), modified the dice tray for easier access, and decrease the overall height to allow more space for the mat cards and the rulebook.

I personally use the 60 micron Sleeve Kings 63.5x88mm (SKS-8810) for the cards, and was able to fit the cards easily. Thicker premium sleeves, such as the 100 micron Gamegenic sleeves, will also fit nicely given the height of the card tray.
