MatrixFlow is an advanced parametric generator that creates smooth, airflow-optimized adapters between any two pipes, hoses, or HVAC ducts.

Unlike simple adapters that just "connect the dots" (loft/hull), the MatrixFlow engine uses a Matrix Sweep algorithm to ensure the internal cross-sectional area stays constant throughout the bend. This prevents the "choked airflow" effect common in 3D printed adapters.

🔧 How to Customize

Click the "Customize" button above to open the MakerWorld Parametric Maker.

Key Parameters:

  • Shapes: Convert Round-to-Round, Square-to-Square, or Square-to-Round.
  • Offsets: Use the X and Y Offset sliders to create S-bends for misaligned pipes.
  • Angles: Tilt the top connection to match your installation (perfect for attic/crawlspace pipes).
  • Fit Mode:
    • Standard: Fits inside a duct.
    • Slip Over: Fits over a rigid pipe.

🖨️ Printing Tips (Bambu Lab)

  • Material: PETG or ASA is recommended for ducts (PLA is fine for cold air intake).
  • Walls: 3 Wall Loops recommended for airtightness and strength.
  • Infill: 15% Gyroid.
  • Layer Height: 0.2mm standard.
  • Supports: Usually NOT required unless you have extreme overhang angles (>50°). The geometry is self-supporting.
  • IMPORTANT: If printing with PETG, keep the door closed and the lid on!
    • Why? During testing, I found that opening the door caused a sudden thermal shift that resulted in a visual "hull line" artifact. For best layer adhesion and visual quality, keep the chamber warm and stable.

📐 Features

  • MatrixFlow Engine: Uses 4x4 transformation matrices to ensure the shape stays perpendicular to the airflow path.
  • Zero-Twist Geometry: Rectangular ends won't corkscrew or collapse during complex compound turns.
  • Exact Tangency: No gaps or weird ridges where the curve meets the straight sections.
  • Manifold: Fully watertight mesh, slicer-ready.
