Modelo 3D Smith Code helmet goggle clip por Vite (Roy) no MakerWorld

Descrição

!!! READ DESCRIPTION !!!

  • This clip has only been tested on my XL model of the Code helmet so I cannot guarantee it will fit on smaller sizes. I recommend trying to print it anyways, STF files are included normally
  • My clip is printed in PLA and works fine outdoors. In PETG I recommend bumping up infill and wall loops. I found PETG a little bit too soft as I could feel it vibrate on lifts with regular print settings.
  • The model is not an exact copy of the original clip, but the insert part into the helmet should fit well.
  • Don't use this model for commercial purposes. I don't mind if you print it out and gift for free to friends ‘n family, i juist don't want potential copyright issues with Smith or co.
  • Don't (super)glue the clip in, it should ideally go in fairly smooth and stay in. Believe me, you'd rather have it fall out and needing to reprint than trying to dig the plastic out if the clip breaks during a fall.

I’m always open for feedback and help! I wish good snow upon everyone out there

Filament I used: AzureFilm PLA matte sage

Story if you really want to know:

My goggle clip fell off somewhere on the mountains. I searched online to buy/print a replacement but couldn’t find any pre-existing models for Smith’s Code helmet (at the time) so I gave up.

After needing to hike up half an icy black slope because my goggles fell off during a fall I signed up to TinkerCad.

I modeled it myself with the only goal of it working. It obviously doesn’t have the same dimensions as the original, instead I focused on the dimensions of the insert part into the helmet.

It fits my helmet well, hasn’t come off (yet), even after multiple falls. Actually surprisingly good at absorbing impact if you hit the back of your head straight on. I hope it can help out others as well.

I printed in PLA because of the color and it works nice in the mountains. You can totally print in PETG, but I do recommend bumping up infill density and wall loops. Choose the material you prefer.
