Modelo 3D Mechanical Randomization Device por Languste en MakerWorld

Descripción

Quickly randomize any decision with this handy device: Press the button to spin the wheel – and let go to make the wheel stop and decide your faith!

Upon the press of a button, you can randomize a value from 1 to 6. I colored the wheel with arrows, but you can choose any symbols of your liking (eyes, numbers, etc.). The print I decided on also allows for simple ½ and ⅓ decisions (as well as any other probability when allowing for rerolls).

The only non-3D-printed item required is a spring from a cheap ball pen. As seen in the GIF, the rotation works perfectly smooth without a bearing; for those of you who want to add a bearing, I uploaded an alternative print version for a 608ZZ bearing; note that I did not achieve a smoother motion with the bearing I used though. The inside of the device can store two replacement trigger needles in case it wears down, but this is simply a precaution.

If you find any issues with my design, please send me a message and inform me! :)

The assembly is pretty straightforward: One of the small L-shaped pieces goes into the slot of the big 0-shaped slider (with the longer side facing down). The other two L's are just extra and can be tucked into the bottom left of the bottom shell for storage. Place the slider into the bottom shell and install the ball pen spring vertically at the bottom. Put the wheel on top. Finally, close it with the lid. Done! :D

I came up with the idea for this years ago, but when I designed my device in CAD from scratch, this project by Lossamoal served as inspiration: [https://makerworld.com/en/models/904087-mechanical-double-dice#profileId-863796](https://makerworld.com/en/models/904087-mechanical-double-dice#profileId-863796)

I was pleased to see someone had a similar idea as I had!

Lastly, here is the story how I had the idea to design this device:

During the Covid season in 2020, back when you were only allowed to meet up outdoors, my friend and I came up with a fun game: At every intersection, randomize which direction you go! It is such a fun activity, you won't believe it unless you have tried it. You also get to see many new places you have not been to before. One time my friend and I literally went all the way to a different town that we both had never been to. However, young and dumb as we were, we used rock paper scissors to decide on the direction… These days are over now thanks to my Randomization Device! :D  If you ever play the same game when being on a walk (at best with my Direction Randomization Device), let me know!
