Description
My motivation for designing this was twofold. First, I wanted a customized/modular bar mat that I can easily disassemble and could do more than just catch spillage. I wanted something that took my bar tending to the next level and gave me options for all the niche cocktail bar things.
The second reason was that I noticed the exorbitant prices that are being charged for bar mats with little to no option for customization. I figured the 3D printing community could do better. So 1900+ lines of OPENSCAD code later, I created this customizable bar mat set.
The modular accessories in the pictures are built with a 150mm width. You can make it any width you'd like, but if you want to make attachments for what is in my print profile, you'll have to make it with a 150mm width.
I encourage people to make their own accessory adaptations and post on Maker World!

Print Settings and Post Print Processing
Common:
- Don't forget to calibrate the build plate before printing!
- Ironing, provides smooth professional looking finish;
- Arachne enabled, for better text printing;
- No AMS required (good for TPU). Learn to switch filaments manually here
- Default heights of borders, text and logo 0.4mm higher than patterns to support colour change
- Modular to fit most print bed sizes (A1 mini compatible).
TPU
For TPU I recommend Printing out shot glass bar mats to test print settings before getting into the bigger mats
- Slow print
- 1.3mm retraction
- 8% infill for flexibility. Use 12% if you want something a tiny bit sturdier
- Low stringing. TPU is difficult to print. If you get strings, use hot air blower to clean up any remaining strings
- Tolerance: default setting is 0 due to TPUs flexibility
PLA/PETG
- Fast print
- Inflexible
- No stringing
- PLA/PETG Dovetail Tolerance: change to 0.2
Food Safety:
Follow food safety guidelines for 3D printing, ie do not let things you ingest touch your 3D prints. To do this, I suggest using aluminum foil for the salt rimmer and to not let any food touch the mat on the cocktail pick stand if you intend on eating it.
The Future - Commercial Licence:
I may be presumptuous here, but given the $30-$50 price tag for simple bar mats with less customization, I can see this parametric bar mat generator being a profitable option for creators that are looking to sell their wears. Alas, I need more followers before I can offer Commercial licences for this, so please like and follow if this interests you!
