Modular Soldering Station

Modular soldering station for PCB soldering. You can configure the layout to your liking and needs. Uses magnets to hold individual accessories in place.

Non printable parts required

M3x12 machine screws (4x)
M3x5 machine screws (4x)
25x2mm round magnet (my layout: 10 magnets; 1 packaging)
10x3mm round magnet (my layout: 8 magnets; 1 packaging)
Crocodile clips 35mm (I used ones i already had, so the ones linked might not be exactly the same size, but you can just modify the parameter in the Onshape file and print that.)

Materials

PLA/PETG
ASA/PETG (Used for ball joints, you can use any filament that has good creep resistance, others are Nylon, PA…)
TPU for AMS (Used for feet on the base and vice jaw plates, not strictly necessary)

Assembly

General

Each accessory has a magnet on the bottom of it, that is glued in (I used hot glue, but CA glue should work too). And a magnet on the other side of the base.

Vice

I recommend using the CAD file as reference.

Slide the threaded rod into the jaw, glue the lock in place. Screw the 2 jaw plates onto the jaws. Then line up the moving jaw with the rod and start screwing it in. Lastly, screw the base onto the bottom.

Helping hands

In my configuration each hand has 12 ball joints excluding base ball joint and the crocodile clip ball joint. To start simply slot them into each other. For the crocodile clip, i used hot glue to hold it inside the hole, which works very well.
