I spent quite a long time working on this model and im happy with the final result. My son wanted a Minecraft lamp, and I wanted a fun project to work on, so this became the perfect combination!
The lantern is compatible with the LED tealight included in the Maker’s Beginner Kit. It can be hung on a hook that fits different shelf thicknesses.
The model is printed in multiple parts on two build plates. I designed it to minimize material waste and only a few supports are needed in the upper section of the lantern. The model does not require an AMS but I personally think it looks closer to the in-game version if white filament is used in the center of the glass. When printing the glass I do not use a prime tower since the colors are meant to blend slightly. I have not experienced any issues with this during my prototype prints. When printing all the glass panels together very little filament is wasted. Make sure to use a clean and properly calibrated build plate for best results.
Assembly is straightforward: start by placing the light into the bottom frame, insert the glass panels, and then attach the top. Once everything clicks into place, the lantern holds together very firmly. If you need to replace the light, it may require some effort to take apart, just be careful not to break the model. I have disassembled mine several times, so it is definitely possible, though I would ideally like to make this process slightly easier in the future.
If the model becomes popular I will definitely look into improving it further and also creating the original lantern from the game. For now I had filament colors that suited the Soul Lantern better.
I hope you like it! I would be very happy to receive a like or two if you enjoy the model.
