I developed this locking base to solve a common gridfinity problem without breaking the bank. I was tired of accidentally lifting entire bins when removing tools - that frustrating moment when the bin comes up with your screwdriver!
The typical solution is adding magnets to every base and bin, but that gets expensive and time-consuming fast when you're outfitting an entire workshop.
This spring-loaded mechanical locking system gives you the same secure hold without any magnets, extra hardware, or tedious assembly. Just print and use!
Simply press your Gridfinity bin into place and the spring-loaded locks engage automatically. To release, just lift with a bit of extra force to disengage the mechanism - it's intuitive and satisfying to use while providing excellent holding power when you're grabbing tools.
Perfect for mobile tool carts, workshop drawers, vehicles, or any application where vibration and movement could otherwise dislodge your carefully organized bins. The springy action provides positive feedback so you know when bins are properly locked.
PET-G recommended because of creep, i.e. deformation under long term stress. PLA is much more susceptible than PET-G.
