The Ultra-Minimalist Magnetic Key Sleeve

This is a ultra-slim, two-piece shell designed for maximum stealth. 

This is the most minimalist "box" for hiding a regular standard size key. I am calling it a box for lack of a better word!

It consists of two symmetric square parts with a tight slot. 

A standard 2mm - 2.5mm thick key acts as the core. It fits tightly and secure the 2 parts together.

I added holes for 5mm x 1mm magnets because my personal goal was to stick it to a metal wall.

It's the perfect way to hide your key inside your (metal) mail box.

Note that the 2 pins are fragile, and they sole purpose it to help align the 2 parts. 

I also recommend to use a small screw driver to clean the holes.

I have only tried printing this in PLA, and it uses only 18.5g of filament.

I added a parametric version of this project. 

You can easily change the height of the box, the pocket that suits best your key, and the holes for your magnets. 

Default values are optimized for a precision fit with standard keys; however, as 'standard' dimensions vary globally, please adjust these sliders to match your local key type. In my case, a 2.5mm thick key fits tightly in a 2.8mm slot.

In case you need a bigger slot you must increase the whole box height as well so the magnets have a proper base.

Note, you can still print it on the flat surface without support despite the large “flying” surface of the key slot. Take a look at the last image/gif of the project.
