MODYLO: Knurled Edition

The Knurled Edition brings a rugged, high-performance finish to the MODYLO ecosystem. Inspired by the precision-machined surfaces of professional-grade tools, this edition is designed for environments where grip, durability, and a heavy-duty tactile feel are paramount.

The MODYLO Concept

This project is a personal exploration into modular organization. Rather than creating fixed containers, I’ve designed a "unified language" for 3D printing. Every part, regardless of the outer texture, shares the same internal DNA. This allows you to mix, match, and color-code a kit of parts tailored specifically to your workspace.

To make the MODYLO system as accessible as possible, I have decided to split each style and component into its own dedicated page.

While the system is fully parametric, I found that hosting each part individually makes it much easier for you to select, customize, and print exactly what you need without navigating a cluttered component list. 

The MODYLO system is comprised of five primary modules, each serving a specific mechanical or organizational purpose within a vertical stack.

Each model below is cross-compatible. You can mix a Hexa base with a Smooth coupler or a Knurled cap seamlessly.

Structural Bases & Accents

Extensions & Dividers

Closures

How to Customize

1. Open the model in the MakerLab Parametric Model Maker.
2. Set your Diameter (Matches all other MODYLO editions).
3. Set your Height (Minimum 40mm recommended).
4. Adjust Knurl Width: Defines the size of each individual diamond in the grid making the knurl pattern.
5. Adjust Knurl Depth: (Recommended: 1mm). This sets how far the texture bites into the surface for the perfect balance of grip and printability.

⚠️ Critical Parameter Note: To ensure your MODYLO modules stack correctly, you must match the Diameter parameter across all different editions in this collection.

The Originality Statement

I take immense pleasure in the manual design process—solving the geometry of a support-free knurl is a challenge I truly enjoyed. All models in the MODYLO collection are my own original creations. I utilize AI tools exclusively to assist with photorealistic lifestyle imagery and to refine the clarity of these descriptions, allowing me to focus more of my time on the engineering and design of the models themselves.
