Split Spool Connector (Experimental Version)
This device allows you to convert a standard filament spool into a split, detachable version. Please note: This is an experimental design and may require adjustments or modifications for optimal performance.
Key Features & Design:
Designed for a spool with dimensions of 100 mm in diameter and 60 mm in width.
The assembly consists of three parts, offered in two variants that differ by their locking mechanism.
For many applications, using only two parts with locks is sufficient and does not compromise reliability.
You can optionally add the third, non-locking part (also included in the files) as an alignment guide.
Feel free to mix and combine the different parts to achieve the best fit, improve locking security, or to save installation time/material.
Installation Instructions:
Mark the Cut Line: Mark the future split line on your spool. You can print and use the provided template for precise marking.

Cut the Spool: Carefully saw the spool along the marked line. Using the printed template as a guide/stopper for your saw can help. Caution: This step requires skill and careful execution.

Drill Mounting Holes: Mark, drill, and chamfer the mounting holes on the larger spool half. This is the most critical stage, as precise alignment is key. (A universal drilling jig for this step was not part of the design).

Attach the Connectors: Secure your chosen combination of the 3D-printed parts to the larger spool half using your own screws or fasteners.
Once assembled, you can easily snap the spool halves together or detach them for convenient filament changes.
