Description
A openGrid Lite snap with small corner tabs for hanging relatively thin items (like paper, pictures, canvas painting) while keeping a clean look. It can also be used to hold other rectangle things as well (I did a surge protector just to try it out). This is customizable to whatever size you need, but there are a few considerations to take into account:
- This is currently a Lite snap version. If I can figure out how to customize which type of snap (e.g., directional) to use I will look to add it. Otherwise you could use the slicer and cut
- The Length and Width are set as inches since this was originally created for standard size American paper and photos (e.g., 8.5x11, 4x6, etc). However in fusion you can just put in the actual millimeters (e.g., 210mm for A4 paper), not sure if that will work with Makerworld.
- I use super thin acrylic (like this [https://www.amazon.com/TKOnline-Plexiglass-Acrylic-Plastic-Invitations/dp/B0CT9W4QFD/](https://www.amazon.com/TKOnline-Plexiglass-Acrylic-Plastic-Invitations/dp/B0CT9W4QFD/)) for flimsier materials like paper.
- I have found "cornersize" greater than 15mm starts to get sagging during the bridging unless your bridging settings are really on point. You can get away with 5mm for most stiff paper/acrylic/boards.
- Thicker walls give better support for larger/heavier items, but super thick walls (>3mm) might have significant overhang on the side depending on the dimensions of your object.
- The fillet shouldn't be much greater than the wall thickness or you run the risk of getting weird corner cutoffs.
- There is help text on the top inside corners and bottom so you can quickly tell when to place it on the openGrid as well as identifying which item size it is useful for when doing batch printing and having multiple different sizes.
- The bottom is labelled with the items size and location of the snap (e.g., Top Right)
- The top side is labeled:
- TL = Top Left
- TR = Top Right
- BL = Bottom Left
- BR = Bottom Right
Customization Options
| Vertical | Size of item (in inches) in the vertical dimension. |
| Horizontal | Size of item (in inches) in the horizontal dimension. |
| Depth | How thick (in millimeters) the item being held is. |
| Tolerance | The tolerance (in millimeters) for all 3 dimensions above. |
| WallThickness | How thick the walls (in millimeters) are holding the item. |
| CornerSize | How much (in millimeters) the corner extends to support the item. |
| Cornerfillet | How much to fillet (in millimeters) the corner. (recommend it equals wall thickness) |
| TextDepth | How deep the helper text should be. Change to .001 to make it invisible when printing to save some time if you are only going to use 1 size. |
