Customizable Cable Clip – Ready to Print, Fully Adjustable if Needed
This is a small adhesive-mount cable clip for clean and secure cable routing. The design is fully parametric, enabling precise sizing for different cable diameters.

Ready-to-Print Profiles Included
This model already includes everything you need to get started:
A ready-to-print profile is provided for users who do not have or do not want an Onshape account. The profile contains preconfigured cable clip diameters ranging from 5 mm to 15 mm, covering most common cable sizes. Simply select the desired size and print. No customization is required.
If you need multiple clips, use the multiplication tool in the Handy app or the clone feature in your slicer software. You may also drop me a message if you require a specific cable clip and are having trouble with the customization.

How to Choose the Right Cable Clip Diameter
Due to printer tolerances and material behavior, the printed cable clip diameter may differ slightly from the digital 3D model.
As a general guideline:
- Choosing a cable clip diameter that matches your cable diameter exactly will result in very firm retention, but insertion may be more fiddly depending on printer accuracy and material.
- A more forgiving option is to choose a cable clip diameter 1 mm larger than the cable diameter. This allows easier insertion and some adjustment after mounting.
Both approaches work well. The choice depends on whether you prefer maximum holding force or easier handling and tolerance compensation.

Click on the “variable table” on the right and all relevant dimensions are exposed and can be modified without editing the geometry itself.

Parametric Design Overview
This is a fully parametric cable clip designed to let you generate the exact size you need for your cables. Instead of choosing from fixed variants, you can adjust the cable clip diameter and print a clip that fits your setup precisely.
While the model exposes a small set of parameters for fine control, adjusting the primary parameter (cable clip diameter) alone is fully sufficient to generate a functional clip. All additional parameters are optional and only intended for users who want to fine-tune geometry or behavior.
The geometry is optimized for secure cable retention, smooth insertion, and reliable printing without supports, making it suitable for both everyday makers and users who value clearly defined parametric behavior.

Parametric Variables Overview
| Parameter | Description |

| channel_diameter | Determines the desired diameter of your cable clip. This is the primary parameter and sufficient for most use cases. |
| channel_length | Total length of the cable clip. Default is 5× #channel_diameter, but may be adjusted freely. |
| base_height | Height of the cable clip base. Together with the radial difference between #channel_housing and #channel_diameter (default 0.8 mm), this defines the cable’s distance from the mounting surface. |
| tape_height | Height or strength of your double-sided tape. The recess will be 0.1 mm below this value for secure attachment. |
| channel_opening | Default is #channel_diameter + 1 mm. May be decreased (larger opening) for very stiff cables or easier insertion. Increasing (smaller opening) is not recommended and may affect overhang print quality. |
| channel_housing | Defines the material strength of the cable clip housing. Default is a 0.8 mm radial wall thickness (#channel_diameter + 1.6 mm). Only change for very small or very large clips. |

Materials & Behavior
The model has been tested with PLA and PETG using Bambu Lab filaments.
PLA delivered the best results due to its higher stiffness, providing stronger cable retention. PETG also worked well but results in slightly reduced holding force due to its flexibility.
Print Settings & Nozzle Notes
- Supports: Not required
- Brim: Recommended for reliable bed adhesion
- Nozzle size:
- Optimized for 0.4 mm nozzles (cleanest results in testing)
- 0.6 mm nozzles work but produce slightly less clean geometry
Standard layer heights and infill values work well. Print orientation as provided.
