Reason behind the build

For ages, I've wanted to build a Raspberry Pi-powered Cyberdeck. This is the culmination of a few months of work putting together the components, and 3D printing various iterations of the casing.

Print one of each plate. To assemble, you match the top plate to the top box and the bottom plate to the bottom box.

The Pi 4 case I found somewhere else, and then heavily modified it to make it even more “minimal”.

You will need

• A Raspberry Pi 4.
• A Waveshare 6.25" IPS DSI screen.
• A Psion 5 keyboard (which you will need to disassemble - careful to extract the keyboard with its ribbon cable attached and intact!). I found mine on eBay.
• Rasmus Backman's Psion 5 keyboard adapter board. (I got the microUSB version, but essentially it's the same item, but updated).
• DIY USB C cables to connect up the keyboard adapter to the Pi's USB ports and also to connect up the UPS power supply to the Pi 4/screen.
• Waveshare UPS module 3S with 3 batteries. (This comes with a power button and a barrel jack adapter plus it also includes a power supply for charging).
• 9.5mm x 0.75mm neodymium magnets (North and South for that lovely “grab” you're after).
• Plastic M2 screws to hold the two halves of the box together.

Magnets

Please see the photos in the documentation section for where to apply the magnets for the top half. You'll find a thin piece of plastic that attached to the back of the top plate to hold the screen securely.

For the bottom box, just place magnets where you see fit to hold the bottom plate to the bottom box.

For the Pi 4 case, apply a North magnet to the Ethernet port of the Pi and then a South magnet to the case to hold it to the Pi. This helps get it in the right place in the top box.
