SpoolVault - The modular filament storage

Designed to be able to hold filament spools, boxes and accessories - all in one system

Now with IKEA SKÅDIS compatible pegboard module that attaches to the sides of the normal 3x spool module!

To attach the module, simply slide it on around the pillars from the top. It only fits one way.

SpoolVault is a fully modular, 3D-printable storage system designed to bring order, flexibility and scalability to any 3D printing workspace. Designed with modularity in mind, SpoolVault can be adapted to your needs, whether you are organizing filament spools, storing filament boxes or keeping printing accessories neatly within reach.

The system is composed of six base modules along with two connector types, allowing users to configure, expand and reconfigure their setup as their collection grows. Each module is designed to work seamlessly with the others, creating a unified storage solution that can be customized for different storage requirements and workspace layouts, all while being easy to print and easy to assemble.

Printing:

Important: The modules in this model are very large and are thus more prone to warping on dirty buildplates. Please make sure that your build plate is clean before printing.

The design allows the modules to be printed using either 0,4mm or 0,6mm nozzles. I can highly recommend using 0,6mm nozzles for this print to heavily reduce the print time, while also increasing the strength of the printed parts. I also recommend printing with strength in mind by keeping a minimum of 4 walls and 20% infill. Support is not needed to print any of the modules.

Unfortunately, none of the modules can be printed on the A1 mini due to the small printplate.  

Assembly of modules:

The only two modules the require some form of assembly are the Drawer Module and Wall Anchor Module. 
 

Wall Anchor Module: Simply attach the double sided foam tape that is linked in the bill of materials to the flat side of the wall anchor part, to then attach it the the wall. This is mainly recommended when building higher storage to increase the stability. 

Drawer module: Simply place the drawer inside the module from above, while aligning the pins of the drawer with the opening on the slots on the sides of the module. 

Connecting modules:

You can connect modules to eachother horizontally by using the “Diagonal Connector” or the “Side Connector”. These slot into the inside of the top pins of each module, to then be hidden by adding another module on top. 

To build vertically, simply align the slots that are found on the underside of all modules, with the pins on top. 
 

On top of this, the smaller modules can be combined by building them 3 tall to make them just as high as the full scale 3x Spool Modules. This makes it possible to mix spool storage, box storage and drawers in any way you'd like.

Updates:

Some updates have already been done on these modules, like adding a chamfer to the top of the pins to make them easier to assemble, and making the bottom of the Drawer Module completely filled in as the drawer sometimes got caught on the edges. 

2026-01-23: Rotated all modules on the buildplates to get further away from the auxiliary fan to reduce warping risks. Also changed the supporting structures on the sides of all smaller modules to improve the printing quality when done with a 0,6mm nozzle.

2026-02-06: Added IKEA SKÅDIS compatible pegboard module which fits on the sides of the normal 3x spool module.
