I'm a mechanic / engineer in heavy industry, I initially got into 3d printing, a little over a year ago with the aim to make tool storage and accessories. I've wasted 1000s over the years on substandard flimsy often online purchases that when they arrive your instantly disappointed, So I decided to do something about it.
I'm a field engineer that not a desk engineer, I have to read engineering drawings and schematics daily as part of the job but had no idea how to make my own so over the last 12 months I've learned CAD modelling. Starting simple but getting more ambitious with every project. All of you who have followed commented and downloaded have been supporting this and I wouldn't be at the stage I'm at without you so sincerely thank you! 🫶.
Now on to the plier rack,
This is for the Milwaukee Packout 3 drawer system. It took almost a full roll to model the bottom of these inserts (I need a 3d scanner🤣). Once I was finally happy with this I got on to the plier rack design. There are some very nice designs already available in our community but non really hit the spot for me.
Firstly I had to beef this one up a bit do make it more durable PLA has its limitations so I designed this to combat those making a very strong insert that fits like a glove.
I made the slots a bit bigger to allow for a range of handle sizes large and small are securely held in place.
I often work with Impact gloves on so I scalloped the fins to make grabbing the pliers much easier and less fiddly, seriously the gloves some of my clients force me to wear are like oven mits!
Now I have the drawer insert profile dialled down I will be releasing some more of these soon, I'm happy with this drawer but the rest need work. Stay tuned for more and again thank you all for supporting me thus far ✌️
