I needed a solution to neatly store 100 twist drills, which would provide easy access to the individual drills and at the same time allow them to be safely hidden so that no one gets hurt.

The result is this multi-purpose drop-down box.
 

Internal dimensions are:

• length 220 mm
• width 165 mm
• height 148 mm

The bottom of the box has a recess for better placement of the drill magazine. You can print a bottom marked "bottom uni" which does not have this recess, the usable height is then 10 mm more. It was also modeled without rubber feet - adhesive ones must be used.

Later I realized that it would be good to be able to place something else on the box. I created an alternative version of the hinges with handles, which creates a usable support surface.

For assembly you will need:

• 4x 5mm feet (furniture door stops)
• 22x brass threaded insert M3 (length 5 mmm max)
• 21x screw M3 x 8 with countersunk head and internal hexagon (thread length max 6 mm so that they do not pass through the box wall)
• 1x screw M3 x 10 with cylindrical head and internal hexagon (alternatively a screw with a flat head)

The assembly is clear from the photos.

Recommendation!
I recommend securing the screws on which the lid halves rotate (4x M3x8) and both screws of the connecting lock of both lid halves (1x M3x8, 1x M3x10) against loosening with a suitable agent, e.g. Loctite 243.
