Hook-and-Stack Geometric Storage Box

This is a simple, functional stacking box designed with integrated geometric hooks. Unlike many commercial solutions that require extra clips or hardware, this box uses its own shape to connect with others, making it a hassle-free, single-part system.

Key Features

• Side-by-Side Connection: While traditional boxes become unstable when stacked too high, these boxes can hook onto each other horizontally. This creates a much broader and more stable base, allowing you to build larger storage arrays without them tipping over.
• Hardware-Free Design: There are no extra small parts to print, lose, or manage. The connection is built directly into the box's geometry.

• Easy to Connect & Detach: This is not a "tight-lock" system. The boxes are designed to hook onto one another with enough clearance to be easily separated when needed (as shown in the images).

   

Printing & Technical Details

• Low Precision Requirement: The design includes approximately 1mm of tolerance buffer. This means you don't need a perfectly print; as long as the hooks can catch, the system works.
• No Supports Needed: Every angle and overhang in the design is less than 25 degrees. You can print this box completely support-free, saving material and cleanup time.
• Material Efficiency (1kg = 10 Boxes): At 2walls and 10% infill with standard settings, each box weighs approximately 89.5g (under 100g). A standard 1kg roll of filament is exactly enough to print 10 boxes, making it easy to calculate your costs and project scale.

• Material Recommendation: I currently use PLA for my prints, but there are no specific material restrictions for this design. Most standard 3D printing filaments should work perfectly fine.

   

Why I designed this:

I wanted a storage system that solved two common problems: boxes sliding around and the need for tiny, annoying connecting clips. By using a simple "hook" geometry, I created a modular system that is easy to print, easy to use, and keeps your workspace organized without the need for extra accessories.
