📄 Description
This model is a 3D-printable alternative to the traditional bone folder or Teflon folder. It is an essential hand tool designed for bookbinding, scrapbooking, origami, card making, leathercraft, cartonnage (box making), and junk journaling.
Designed for durability and precision, this ergonomic tool allows you to:
- Score and crease sharp lines without cracking paper fibers.
- Burnish and smooth materials during gluing to remove air bubbles.
- Work paper, fabric, or leather into tight box corners and edges.
📂 Included Variations
The files include 3 variations to suit different crafting needs:
- Standard Flat: The classic profile for general folding, scoring, and papercraft.
- Notched/Angled: Includes a specific cutout profile, ideal for corner work, edge guiding, and box making.
- Rounded Grip: Features a thicker, ergonomic handle to reduce hand fatigue during high-pressure burnishing or leather edge slicking.
🛠 Usage
- Creasing/Scoring: Use the point or the edge to mark fold lines cleanly.
- Burnishing (Marouflage): Use the flat side to spread glue evenly or smooth down vinyl/stickers.
- Cornering: Use the fine tip to push paper into box corners or turn edges for cover wrapping.
🖨️ Print Settings (Recommendations)
To ensure the tool is smooth and creates no marks on your paper, follow these settings:
- Material: PLA, PLA+, or PETG (PETG is recommended for better smoothness).
- Infill: 100% or very high (e.g., 40% Gyroid) to withstand pressure.
- Walls/Perimeters: 4 to 5 walls (vital for sanding later).
- Layer Height: 0.12mm or 0.16mm for a smoother surface.
- Top Surface: Enable "Ironing" for the smoothest top finish.
⚠️ Post-Processing (Optional)
Since FDM 3D prints have layer lines, raw prints might scratch delicate papers. Sanding is highly recommended to wet-sand the edges and tip with fine-grit sandpaper (400 -> 1000 grit) to make it perfectly polished like real bone or Teflon.
🔄 Changelog
