You can still use this version if you'd prefer, but I'd definitely recommend the newer model!
The ultimate, fully print-in place rolling kit
Including models for:
Main Box
With perfect-fit cutouts for all the accessories below. Fully print in place cone hinges which work nice and smoothly, with a print in place over-center latch mechanism which pulls the lid down snug into the TPU gasket (model also provided) for a nice airtight seal.
Storage Pot/Jar
Ergonomic and smoothly threaded lid with around 1.5 full rotations to open. Similar to the box, comes with a gasket which can be printed in TPU for air-tight sealing.
Rolling Tray
Removable tray which clips into the lid. V-shape groove for rolling, with one end open for ease of lifting up the paper, and a small catch-tray at the back for excess tobacco etc.
Pokey Stick
Small stick, perfect for poking down finished rolls.
User-Provided Accessories
There are also cutouts for the below
-King-size rolling papers - either 1x connoisseur pack or 1x normal king-size papers and 2x roach packs
-Clipper-style lighter - clips into the lid and doesn't fall out
Printing Instructions/Notes
I printed these parts with the below filaments, but you should be able to use pretty much anything (other than for the seals which need to be TPU or something flexible):
-Box/Tray - Sunlu PLA+ 2.0
-Jar/Pokey - iSanMate Silk Multicolour PLA
-Box Seal/Jar Seal - Sunlu TPU 95A
Note that the box's latch mechanism is printed in place, and has extra walls and a little more infill in the print profile to give it the required strength. This would likely be better printed in PETG to make it a little more resistant to the stretching that the latch experiences, but I printed mine in PLA and it has seemed OK for the 100 or so times I've opened/closed it so far.
The print orientation for the latch looks a little weird and does require support, but I've found this prints nicely with the support scarring only on the back of the latch where it can't be seen, and of course this orientation gives the best strength in terms of layer lines (length-ways on the “middle” piece and neither in line with the hook body nor the hook itself). Alternatively if the latch fails for some reason, you can print the latch separately (just select the two latch parts and delete everything else, then lay them flat on the bed) and with a bit of force you can push them onto the cone hinges on the box.
The two seals of course need to be printed in TPU. I used 95A and this turned out quite nicely. The box seal is solid on the bottom and split at the top, to allow more flex to make sure the seal ends up air tight - make sure to put it in the groove in the correct orientation.
The accessories (jar/tray/pokey) can be printed in different colours if preferred. Select the plate with the accessories and click any of the objects, then right click and choose “Split → To Objects”. Now you can select each of the parts and choose a different colour. The jar also looks good with fuzzy skin if you like that look, but I chose not to include that in this profile.
