Modelo 3D LED Fidget Lighter por Fletch no MakerWorld

Descrição

A fake lighter with a fully functional wheel that spins to convert rotational movement into linear movement in order to turn an LED on and off. This seemed like a pretty good opportunity to work with some gears and mechanics, but keeping things small proved to be quite difficult. Apparently, it also turned to be a pretty interesting fidget toy with the audible clicks when you open and close the case.

I have printed this in several different types of PLA (Basic, Matte, Metal) and they all work well. This model has some tight tolerances, so i wanted to be sure the vast majority of people would be able to make it work. Another issue I had to consider was the variable sizes of the magnets that come with these LEDs. I measured magnets heights from 2.4mm to 2.6mm, so the slide was designed to handle these variable heights.

I highly recommend using the print profiles I have provided. I have printed a lot of these as prototypes and found the provided settings to work best. Enjoy!

Troubleshooting

  1. The magnets that come with the LED are pretty inconsistent. If you are having trouble getting the LED to turn on/off:
    1. Try flipping the magnet around in the slider. I have tried many different orientations and positions for this slider in the model and the current model had the most consistent results.
    2. Spin the wheel slower.
  2. The case doesn't close. This is most likely the result of having the hammer installed incorrectly. When vertical, the hammer should be bent towards the outer edge, not the middle.

Assembly

1. Gather your pieces. In addition to the printed parts, you'll need some regular filament for the case hinge.

2. Place the top and bottom case halves together. Insert the 1.75mm piece of filament. Twisting helps. Cut off excess filament.

3. Assemble the top insert. Slide the flame in from underneath with the slanted part facing where the wheel is located. Slide the wheel into place from the top. Slide the hammer into place. The hammer orientation matters, when standing straight up it should be bent towards to the outer edge. There are small notches for each part to hold them in place.

4. Press the LED light into the hole of the bottom insert.

5. Slide the top insert into the bottom. You need to add the small gear before sliding the top part all the way in. Go about halfway in, add the small gear, then slide the top the rest of the way. Add the third gear with the raised pole after sliding the top part into place.

6. Add the magnet to the slide and place into the bottom insert.

7. Slide the insert into the case. There is a small bump inside of the case to keep the insert from sliding around.
