Quick-Load Top-Insertion Spool Holder for U1

This project is a top-insertion spool holder designed specifically for the U1 printer, with the goal of making spool changes fast, simple, and tool-free.
The spool can be inserted from the top, allowing a very quick replacement without removing parts or disassembling the holder.

The design has been extensively tested before publishing: I successfully completed long prints up to 18 hours without any issues related to stability, friction, or filament feeding.

Two Thread Options Included

The files include two different threaded sections to secure the spool to the holder:

• One version with a 6-turn thread
• One version with a 3-turn thread

This allows you to choose between maximum grip or faster installation, depending on your preference.

Material Usage

• The entire project uses less than 90 grams of filament
• A complete U1 setup (multiple spool holders) requires less than 400 grams in total

This makes the project lightweight, efficient, and economical to print.

Compatibility

• Designed specifically for the U1 printer
• Compatible with both original and aftermarket spools
• Supports spools with a central hole up to 86 mm

What’s New in V2

• Improved main body grip
  The main central body now features external protrusions that make it easier to hold and rotate by hand during installation and removal.
• Enhanced threaded ring usability
  The threaded locking ring now includes grip holes, allowing for easier tightening and loosening, even with limited hand strength.
• Split hook for higher strength
  A new two-piece hook version is included for users who prefer higher mechanical resistance.
  The two parts must be glued together to achieve maximum strength and durability.
• Snapmaker logo cap

This is Version 3 of the U1 QuickLoad Top-Mount Spool Holder, with further improvements focused on ease of use and durability.

  The spool hook now features a built-in guiding ramp (slide) that helps align and insert the spool more easily.
  This makes the loading process smoother and reduces the chance of misalignment during installation.
• Extended cap for increased durability
  The cap has been lengthened to prevent contact and friction with the main body.
  This reduces stress on the part and helps prevent potential breakage over time.
