This is my comic-inspired Wolverine lightbox, designed and built as a custom Christmas gift for my brother-in-law. The project combines a simple, cost-effective electronic setup with a clean visual presentation inspired by classic comic artwork.

For illumination, I used inexpensive 5V white LED strips purchased from Amazon. Due to a limited quantity of LED strips on hand, they were mounted on the rear panel of the lightbox rather than around the full internal perimeter. Despite this placement, the light distribution remains even. If preferred, the LED strips can be installed along the inner sides of the lightbox, and the final result should be equally uniform without introducing noticeable dark spots.

To ensure reliable and flexible power input, the lightbox incorporates an MP1584 DC–DC step-down (buck) converter, calibrated to output 4.9V. This allows the unit to be safely powered from multiple sources, including USB power banks or 12V power adapters, without risking overvoltage to the LED strips.

Power is delivered through low-cost USB-C connectors, selected for their availability, ease of installation, and compatibility with modern power supplies. These connectors are inexpensive and can be sourced in bulk from common online retailers such as Amazon or Shein.

To secure the cover, I used M3×4mm screws—there is no need for anything longer.
Overall, the project prioritizes affordability, adaptability, and ease of replication while maintaining a polished and professional finish.

PLEASE NOTE: When printing the Light Box face, use the profile I have provided for the best quality possible. If the print doesn't stick to the bed, make sure you have your printer fully calibrated. If that fails, apply some glue stick to the bed for better adhesion.
