Descrição
This is a Deck Box for MTG Commander or Standard decks with these features:
- The Commander (or other card) is visible through a window in the box.
- …or protected by the matching printed “shutter” card. Your choice.
- The box style uses a sloped base and lid that snap together tightly. You can hold a full box by the lid without it opening.
- Visual details match the Lorwyn Eclipsed card set, with inlaid, embossed, and debossed graphics!
The sloped box style is very popular because it's easy to load and unload the cards, it opens and closes easily yet snaps shut securely, and it works very well as a container for your library during play. This model was created from scratch, using OpenSCAD.

Other features of note:
- The box holds 100 double-sleeved cards and a few tokens, or 100 single-sleeved cards and lots of tokens.
- The walls are quite thick to give it a very solid look and feel, but it only needs to be printed with two walls and minimal infill, so it's a light print (114g).
- Only 6 filament changes are required, so there's very little waste. I design all my multi-colour models to produce minimal waste.
- All edges are chamfered (cut at 45 degree angles) so that the parts are smooth against your hands, the cards, and each other. Chamfers everywhere give it a clean and consistent look.
- The lid requires support for the edge of the window, but optimized support is built in to the model. It often just falls off and needs little to no clean up.
Printing Instructions:
- AMS Required for the inlaid colors. But, please let me know with a comment if you don't have an AMS but would like to print something similar.
- The colour lines/stripes on the lid and the base are specified by Height Range Modifiers on those two. So, if/when you change colours of the body and inlays, also change the colour of these to the desired colour. And then verify the colours in the Preview. See this pic:
- Regular PLA is perfectly adequate for this model.
- As with any square/rectangular model, bed adhesion is essential to avoid the corners warping. Use a clean plate with good adhesion so you get a perfect print. I use a cool plate specific for PLA and have zero issues, print after print.
Assembly
- Fill the base of the box with your deck. Put the printed shutter in the front if you want protection rather than visibility.
- Put the back edge of the lid against the back edge of the base, with the lid tipped open.
- Tip the front of the lid forward and down towards the base, as you tuck the cards in under the lid by pushing on them them through the window. Be careful you don't catch the front card on the upper edge of the window.
- To open, follow the opposite approach: Pull the lid and base apart at the front, then tip the lid up and back.
- The fit may be very tight at first, because of microscopic printing details, but it will get smoother quickly.
