A Wrought Iron–inspired Shelf Bracket
I originally designed and printed these to use for a shelf I put up. It's a little fancier than most 3D printed shelf brackets I've seen, but still sturdy and practical.
The first few photos show the bracket printed in Voxelab's Marsala PETG-CF which went well with the Mahogany-coloured shelf I was putting up.
- Dimensions: 200 x 150 x 57 mm
- Recommended Material: PETG or PETG-CF
- Print Time: 6 - 8 h each (Depending on exact material and print settings used)
- Supports Required?: Yes
See 3MF or print profile description for recommended print settings.
Using the bracket
- The brackets I printed in PETG-CF, could easily take my entire weight without permanently deforming or breaking. But the strength will be highly dependent on how well it prints on your machine, so print and use at your own risk.
- If printing with a material like PETG-CF, make sure to dry it first, as it makes a huge difference on the surface finish.
- There are four mounting holes for each surface but really you only need to use two.
- Wafer or cabinet type screws with a low-profile and a wide head are good for something like this.
- Don’t overtighten screws onto the bracket surfaces, it might be strong enough, but it’s not as hard as a steel bracket obviously.
- The mounting holes are 9.25 x 8.25 mm.
- The side that attaches to the shelf is 200mm long and the side that attaches to the wall is 150mm long.
