Modelo 3D Bobwhite Quail call por Malx no MakerWorld

Descrição

Bobwhite Quail call / whistle

This is a “normal” two-tone whistle, tuned to mimic the call of bobwhite quails. As a whistle, its sound is a little bit “clearer” than from a real bird but my experience about bird calls is that it will be more than “good enough” to get real birds to answer if used correctly. (And there are similar whistles like this on the market so I'm pretty sure it works, but please leave constructive feedback)

The whistle itself is just a slightly modified version of my whistle duck call,  with another front making it easier to use for bobwhite. (But you can technically use the whistle duck call to the same effect)

For once I also include some options for you to tune the whistle yourself, there is no way of getting the exact same frequencies when printing on different printers with different plastics. If you try the different fronts I provide, you will see that they will slightly change the sound of the whistle (mostly the “closed” sound, “bob” part). Just remember that it does not have to be perfect, different individuals sounds different as well.

Printing

Use PLA or another stiff material (avoid CF/GF since you are going to breath in around it, you do not want small CF particles in your lungs). All parts are designed for 3d-printing and no supports needed.

Printing with a 0.4 nozzle and 0.2 mm layer height. Important to print the body standing on the mouth piece with a brim (you can sand the mouth piece after). Do not print it any other way even if it looks like its more stable. It sounds a lot better if you print it as instructed.

Assembling

Screw the front into the body

Use

You start with using your finger to block the front exit of the whistle for the “bob” sound. For the end/"white" sound, you release your finger. So then you make a sequence like – bob – bob – bobwhite   (So two short calls with the finger in front and a little longer call there you release the finger in the middle)
