Modelo 3D Modular chess board por xws no MakerWorld

Descrição

Modular chess board consisting of 4 parts with connectors.

The pieces shown in the pics are taken from here: [https://makerworld.com/en/models/1505219-stylized-chess-set](https://makerworld.com/en/models/1505219-stylized-chess-set) I just scaled and colorized them. Great work, 29FLO! I love that chess pieces!

There are several options how to print the board.

You can either print the board upside down, which is the way the model comes. For that setup I recommend a smooth printing plate to avoid imprint from the plate on the surface of the board.

Or you flip the whole thing over and print the board upside up, which provides for a clean surface but comes with the need of quite some support.

If you prefer to have a solid board, just remove the negative parts (<y>_<x>_hollow.stl). If you do so, you might want reduce the infill density of <y>_<x>_inner.stl.

If you do not remove the negative parts, I recommend to not change the infill density of <y>_<x>_inner.stl as that provides for a somewhat stable 10mm-wall at the faces. Connector cutouts only leave 5mm of that wall, which is stable enough. But not with 5% infill or so.

Shell and core are split into separate parts to being able to print everything underneath the surface with any cheap filament. The shell (including tiles) has a thickness of 2mm or more. So scaling down the board should be ok.

I added a connector test. The connectors work just fine for me. If you happen to scale the model, or if you are using some fancy filament, I recommend to print the connector test with the same setup to check the connectors before going for the real thing. The connector test also comes with the same octagram spiral as the tiles to check for any imprints of the printing plate.

As it is quite crowded on the print plates I made the wipe towers slim.

What else can I say? Oh yes, the tiles have a size of 50mm x 50 mm without the grid between tiles. Grid lines have a width of 2.5mm. Just to give you some hint how large the pieces should be. The bases of my pawns have a diameter of 40mm. Knight (the largest piece regarding base) is 48mm.
