Descrição
I designed these feet from scratch specifically for the Bambu Lab A1. The primary goal is to raise the printer to ensure better airflow underneath the unit. This extra clearance is crucial not only for passive heat dissipation but was also designed to provide enough space for the future installation of an active cooling system to direct air toward the motherboard.
I have personally printed, installed, and verified the 5 cm version. It works perfectly, ensuring stability and the desired airflow.
Design Features:
- Custom Fit: The top surface features a recess specifically designed to house the original Bambu Lab rubber feet.
- Calculated Tolerances: I intentionally left specific clearance ("play") to allow the rubber to compress correctly under the printer's weight, as well as clearance in the insertion slot to make assembly easy and force-free.
Files Included:
- .3mf: Ready-to-print files for a single foot or a batch of 8 (useful for spares or multiple printers).
- STL Files: Available in various heights to suit your specific needs: 2cm, 3cm, 4cm, and 5cm.
- Why max 5cm? I have not uploaded versions taller than 5cm because I have not personally tested their stability. If you strictly require a height greater than 5cm, please leave a comment or message me and I can provide the files. However, please be aware that using untested taller versions is entirely at your own risk.
Print Settings
- Material: I highly recommend using PETG (or ABS/ASA) to ensure rigidity and long-term durability.
- PLA: I have not personally tested these models in PLA. If you decide to use PLA, I strongly recommend increasing the infill to prevent deformation (creep) under the printer's weight over time.
Installation Tips & Stability Note
- Insert the printer's original rubber feet into the recessed housing on top of the printed risers.
- Securing the printer: If your table surface is slippery, the printer might move during high-speed operation.
- ⛔ Important testing note: I experimented with placing thick rubber patches underneath these printed bases to gain grip. However, I observed that print results were different (likely due to introduced vibrations or resonance changes).
- ✅ Recommended Solution: When used without adding extra rubber patches underneath (resting directly on a non-slip surface or using thin double-sided tape just to prevent sliding, as I do), the printing results are exactly the same as the stock printer configuration.
Disclaimer
These 3D models and instructions are provided "as is", for free, and without warranty of any kind. While I use these risers daily on my own printer with success, I explicitly disclaim any responsibility for:
- Improper use or incorrect installation of the components.
- Accidental damage to the printer, property, or persons resulting from part failure or machine instability.
- Untested Files: Regarding files taller than 5cm provided upon request, since I have not personally tested them, please be aware that their use is entirely at your own risk.
The user is solely responsible for the choice of material, print settings, and periodic verification of the parts' integrity.
Feedback
I love reading your comments! If you found this model useful, a small "thank you" or a like is greatly appreciated. I am also very open to suggestions, so please let me know if you have any ideas on how to further improve the design!
