Additional Spool Holder for A1 mini

For quite some time I was looking for an additional spool holder for my A1 Mini, but couldn’t find any model that installs without removing the top cap of the Z-axis column.
So this is my own attempt to create such a spool holder for the A1 Mini.

The model consists of six components: the main body, a two-piece holding rod, two screws, and a locking tab.

Printing Tips

The included printing profile already contains all necessary settings.
For best results, the main body is printed with variable layer height, which may noticeably increase the print time.
If you want to modify these settings, please make sure that the threaded section is printed at 0.08 mm layer height.

The two screws are also highly recommended to be printed at 0.08 mm.

Assembly

Remove all supports from the bottom side of the main body and make sure the inner cavity is clean with no leftover plastic.

Mount the main body on top of the printer’s Z-axis column, lock it with the tab on the right side, and fasten the two screws (on the left and rear sides).

Install the inner part of the rod into the socket at the top of the main body, and then insert the outer part of the rod.

Alternatively, you may assemble both rod pieces first and then install the assembled rod into the main body—just make sure that the rod is fully seated and locked by the inner piece, so it cannot rotate.

All clearances between components are designed to ensure a tight and play-free fit.

The rod length is optimized for standard Bambu Lab spools.
An additional file includes an extended version of the rod for wider spools.

Usage tip

The lower spool can serve as a simple filament guide for the upper one.

Important note:
This spool holder is not designed to be used as a handle. Do not lift or carry the printer by this part.

I’ve been using this holder for a few weeks now and have had no issues at all.
