[please note link to Generator at bottom of description] Hello. We found ourselves faced with a common yet simple problem in our workshop and craft studio: often we use solvents to soak small metal parts to dissolve glues and paints, or remove grime, or allow a product to absorb a solvent or paint, and we drop a small amount of what we are doing in a cup and let that sit for an hour or two. We found ourselves wanting to protect these actions from dust and spillover, and sometimes stack them for convenience, while continuing to use the convenient small Dixie brand and generic plastic cups we keep around our craft studio for mixing. This parametric solution works perfectly for us because we can riff off two or three versions of the two or three cups we keep in stock in our studio, and print five or six of these lids to always have one on hand. We also have chemical beakers for similar experiences. We have had so much success with these cap lids in our workshop we want to make these models available to you for free use, and expand those possibilities to whatever product cups you may have, including large cups across the spectrum of cups. These cap lids make sure our solvents do not leak fumes, do not spill by accidental touch, or get dust and contaminants into their solutions.
We have parametrized this model into four simple factors you can measure with a household ruler and think you will absolutely enjoy using these. Details for specific model usage are written simply in the comments of the parametric model by clicking customize below. Please print these models to your desires and provide us feedback here so that we can see our product in happy use and make continuous iterations of better products. Positive vibes give greater strides and 5-star reviews thank us. You may also find us by searching WorkshopsTheFuture on most platforms, such as Etsy, Instagram, YouTube, and CashApp.
Most paper and plastic cups, and chemistry Griffin beakers, come in nearly-standard sizes. This model generates a snug tapered cap for cups and beakers for protection of its contents and reduction in spills. The design parameters describe the inner diameter of the cup, along with its taper angle, and depth into the cup perimeter; and an outer diameter which is intended to extend beyond the rim. Most paper/plastic cups are near-standard sizes, making this parameterized model ideal for reusable standards around a workshop or craft setup, for clean use with solvents. In most normal use conditions a careful millimeter ruler is precise enough to set the design parameters, and choosing a taper angle is simple for standard cup sizes. We have provided links to typical cup sizes which provide outer diameters; inner diameters can be assumed to be several millimeters shorter.
These fit extra strong because of their unique design to taper the cap lid to match the cup taper angle; and are properly filleted on all sides for strength and comfort, and easily stack. Our work uses the minimum amount of filament and print time for any product of this quality and robustness. We are very pleased with our results and expect you will be too.
