I was finally cleaning up my work desk and did all the cable management and thought of designing my own webcam mount so that it doesn't stay on top of laptop screen and I can orient it independently, while placing it in between my two monitors at required height. 

A couple of hours on Fusion 360 and YT tutorials (to learn surface texture), here is the final version which I am using on my desk now - 

It has two options of mounting the webcam:

1. You can print the tower extension with the universal camera mount screw on the top
2. You can print the tower extension AND the brick like looking component so that you can mount the camera on top of that as shown in one of the pictures. 

The tower is about 175 mm tall. You will need at least one of the tower extension with camera mount (which will add another 25mm to the height) so that you can place your camera on top of that. I have done this way so that if your screw breaks, you don't need to print the whole thing again and simply print this one piece to replace. And you can print it in different colors easily for enhanced looks. 

The extension piece is there to add to the height by 25 mm. 

Practical tips:

• Do not over tighten the screws (specially the camera mount) as it will break with strong force.
• When using the brick mount - after screwing the piece on the mount, it will help to put some glue to make it stronger. 
• Running the USB cable through will take a min due to the size of the cable, but it works fine.

• For mounting, screw in everything, including camera, before you run the USB cable through the cable concealment so that you are not tangling or over folding your cable. 

   

I used PETG but I think PLA can also work fine. The brick-kind mounting piece has variable layer height to ensure the threads are printed perfectly and no issues when screwing on the first time.

My webcam is Logitech C920 but it will work for any other camera just as well which uses either the standard mounting screw or the hanging mechanism.
