I picked up a solo drone for a really low price. Friends said that we should use it to go surf fishing. Had some time and had seen a previous model for a different drone with almost the same release mechanism.

tie line to clip, insert clip into slot on adapter on bottom of drone. Fly out to spot to release line. Lock the bell, the tension should pull the tab out of the slot dropping line into water.

I do not know the maximum weight limit on solo drone. In picture i am picking up a bigger socket with some weight on it.
