The reason is to increase the strenghness.

Classic mechanical design, the tighter you pull, the tighter it gets. The gears grip the rope firmly without slippage, allowing for quick tightening and loosening. It's recommended to have several spares.

Print-in-place design with minimal supports; simply loosen the gears after removing supports to use.
