Introducing Snapmaker U1
This detailed model is a tiny representation of this new printer. It is 1:10 scale model (around 48.9mm tall),
now with MOVING PARTS!
From start my goal was not only to print a tiny U1 but also to let it have some moving elements.
Here's the list of moving pars:
- main toolhead is moving on the rails
- build plate (it can be inserted from the top of through front window when printed without transparent glass
- side filament spools
Glass door and back window:
- this is also prepared as a separate part so you can print it with transparent filament or resin printer. You can also skip this part and have doors and back window open. The door handle will stick to the glass-door black frame so you can skip transparent parts if you don't want them.
IMPORTANT PRINT DETAILS:
100% scale:
I do admit that this is a challange print in this scale because of all that tiny details I wanted to keep PLUS I really wanted the Toolhead section to be movable along with the filament spools.
Recommended nozzle: 0.2 - because of very tiny elements. This scale is all about miniaturization. With resin printer you could even go a little bil lower in scale . In this scale the outer cover will have 1 - 2 walls only. I also attached optional thicker cover.
If you plan to prepare your own 3mf file here are the recommendations:
- Wall generator: Arachne (default settings are fine)
- Brim-object gat: 0.8-0.9 (brim required for Toolhead rails - it is moveable!
- Only one wall on the first layer
- 0.06 layer height - i.e. PTFE tubes in this scale are very tiny. I recommend patience when removing supports
200% scale:
Still this is a tiny print ~10cm tall. It is much easier to print in this scale and you should not have any issues (tested on many prototype prints).
Recommended nozzle: 0.2, 0.4 - walls and all tiny elements are now easily printable on most of the printers.
Multicolor options:
Beside a full-color model I have prepared all the parts separately so you can decide what and how you want to print it. My default 3mf file has both all-in-one multicolor model and split parts to multiple tables.
Please note that some of the tables have "Object by Object" print sequence enabled to handle small details properly (1:10 scale).
Hint: if you select all stl files on a disk and drag them to Creality Print slicer it will load all parts combined as a one. Then choose your colors for different parts and then eliminate elements you don't want to print in a single multicolor print.
Filament spools:
It is really the best to print them by parts (cardboard sides plus filling) and then glue them together BUT have fun and try to print them as is in multicolor - this will work too!.
"Snapmaker" logo on the from of the printer and main toolhead:
Especially in 1:10 scale this is a challenging thing to print. Definitely on 0.2 nozzle. Orient the white cover frame on its front and remember to enable "Only one wall on the first layer" option in your slicer.
You can also skip the logo and print it without it having a plane. Try printing it in standing position only when scaled above 150%.
PTFE tubes:
For this model it is like the jewel in the crown BUT do not print it together in such a small scale. It is way better to print it separately, laying on the side and then glue them into your print. You should be fine without scaled out models though.
I hope you will enjoy printing this tiny model just as I do :)
