The Astor Markhor is found primarily in the northern regions of Pakistan (including the Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces), and in the southwestern part of Jammu and Kashmir in India.
Its habitat includes high-altitude areas along the Indus and its tributaries, such as the Gilgit, Astor, and Hunza rivers.
It can also be found in eastern Afghanistan, near the borders of Pakistan.
High in the snow-kissed mountains of Astore, where the clouds brush against ancient stone, the Markhor moves like a living legend.
