For this piece, I wanted to capture the elegance and power of a dragon in motion — not flying this time, but coiling, guarding, and glowing from within. I imagined a serpent-like dragon wrapping around its own light source, like it’s protecting an ancient treasure. Check my other dragons here and here

I started by sculpting the shape on my iPad, experimenting with poses that felt dynamic from every angle. After several sketches, I found the perfect balance between movement and symmetry — a twisting form that feels alive even when it’s standing still.

Once the model was ready, I designed a hidden space for the LED lamp so the light would flow naturally through the curves and scales. The printing process took a few attempts to get right — I wanted the scales sharp and the flow of the body smooth.

After printing, I gave it a metallic finish to highlight the texture and depth of the scales. Under the light, it almost appears to be an ancient piece, alive with a warm glow.

It was a challenge, but also one of my favorite builds to date. I hope you enjoy this dragon as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life.
