Modelo 3D Mini Pinecil Case (stores iron + 2 tips) por Mogzol no MakerWorld

Descrição

NOTE: These files are just the inserts for the case. See the “Printing the Case” section below for how to print the case itself

A small storage case for the Pinecil V2 soldering iron that can store the soldering iron itself, two soldering tips, and a small screwdriver. The insert is a modified version of the insert from this case by @orax with the following changes:

  • Removed storage compartments and reduced size to fit the Pinecil without tip attached
  • Moved the tip storage to beside the Pinecil, reduced to only hold two tips
  • Moved the screwdriver storage to underneath the tips
  • Added small extrusions to the tip and Pinecil holders to make them hold more securely

The case is a modified version of the Customizable Snap-Lock Box by @Kong 3D. Because of the license on that case, I cannot share the STL files for it, but I have included the steps to re-create it yourself below.

All parts can be printed without any brims, rafts, or supports. 0.20mm layer height or smaller is recommended.

Printing the Case

The case used in the photos is a modified version of Customizable Snap-Lock Box by @Kong 3D. As mentioned above, I can't share the STLs due to the license, but here are the steps for how to re-create it (also see the video below):

  1. Go to the Customizable Snap-Lock Box by @Kong 3D page and choose “Download STL/CAD Files” and download the “Snap-Lock Box (Double Locks).f3d” file.
  2. Open the file in Fusion 360
  3. Shorten the latch to allow for a shorter box, which is done like this:
    1. Edit the “Lid Hinge and Latch” sketch
    2. Edit the dimension that goes from the base of the box to the bottom of the latch
      1. Change it from “Height - 29mm” to “Height - 24mm
    3. Click “Finish Sketch
  4. Now just edit the dimension parameters (Modify > Change Parameters) to the following:
    1. Width: 68.38mm
    2. Length: 118.7mm
    3. Height: 28.1mm
    4. CornerRadius: 9.4mm
  5. Export the Box, Lid, and Latch bodies as STLs and print them

Here is a video showing all these steps:

Additionally, there is an optional extra modification you can make that allows the lid to open further. The case normally only opens to ~135°. If you want it to open further, you can do so by adding an extra line to the “Box and Latch Hinge” sketch, then editing “Extrude 10” to include the new area, like this:

You could also use a completely different case if you would like. It just needs to have inner dimensions of 112.70mm x 62.38mm x 15.10mm for the box and 112.70mm x 62.38mm x 9mm for the lid, with a corner radius of 6.4mm. If you choose not to use the lid insert, then the lid instead only needs ~5mm of depth.

Assembly

The case dimensions above leave 0.1mm of clearance for the insert, that should be enough to allow you to push the insert in and have it friction fit tightly. Then clip the rest of the case together and you should be good. The latches will probably be very tight the first few times you lock them, open and close them a few times and they should feel better.
